A helicopter and marine search and rescue team has been deployed in Port Hedland after a man was reported missing yesterday.

The 23-year-old Indian citizen was last seen aboard the bulk iron ore carrier he works aboard and was reported missing after he failed to appear for the afternoon muster at about 1pm.

He is described as having a dark complexion and was last seen wearing white overalls.

The search is being conducted by Port Hedland Police, with support from the WA Water Police and the Volunteer Marine Rescue Service Port Hedland, and was suspended overnight but re-commenced at first light today.

Police have grave concerns for the welfare of the man and request if anyone has any information please contact Police immediately on 131 444.
