The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety has granted Ramelius Resources a clearing permit at the Greenfinch open pit project in WA.

The company submitted a revised application in June this year, following the rejection of the first application in November 2018. The initial application proposed clearing an area of 48.8 hectares, which was reduced to 16.6h hectares in the most recent application.

The reduced area means rare flora will be avoided but the company will still be able to mine the 62,000-ounce ore reserve.

To enable the project to be brought into production, Ramelius will work with the DMIRS and related regulatory bodies.

Once all conditions have been satisfied, a revised mine schedule and life-of-mine plan will be produced.

The Greenfinch project is adjacent to the company’s Edna May gold operation.
