Austmine 2019: Mining Innovation – The Next Horizon, the world’s leading mining innovation conference, is bringing audience engagement to the forefront, with unprecedented opportunities to meet with the industry’s thought leaders.

Scheduled for May 21 - 23 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Austmine 2019 is much more than just a conference, gathering together leading miners METS companies, as well as academia and government, with the aim to drive conversations around the future of the industry.

In addition to the sold-out exhibition of over 90 of the world’s most exciting METS companies, the event is underpinned by a series of standout interactive elements, including the all new live “Ideas Exchange.”

In partnership, with Austmine Innovation Partners, Roy Hill, OZ Minerals and Resolute Mining the live “Ideas Exchange” will provide a platform for conference participants to discuss, debate and contribute their thoughts on how to tackle some of the most pressing issues faced by mining operations today.

With both online and offline opportunities for conversations and brainstorming, this is a live collaboration exchange on a larger scale than has ever been done in the mining industry before.

“OZ Minerals is excited about having the opportunity to partner with Austmine, Roy Hill, Resolute Mining and the broader industry to trial a different way of working on challenges our sector is facing,” OZ Minerals Managing Director and CEO Andrew Cole said. “Greater collaboration among mining and METS companies holds the key to a sustainable industry and the conference provides us with a chance to do just that.”

Another highlight is set to be the Meet the Miners session on May 22, which will foster closer collaboration between miners and METS. Through direct engagement with senior miners, attendees will better understand the business fundamentals and operational factors driving decision making on a global scale, including supply requirements and current priorities.

This represents an unparalleled opportunity for participants to establish and develop relationships with mining companies appearing at the conference. It allows miners the chance to meet with a number of suppliers in a short time, exposing them to new and exciting potential partners they otherwise wouldn’t get to meet.

Currently confirmed miners in attendance include Anglo American Head of Application Delivery Glenn Wylde, Kalumbila Minerals, First Quantum Minerals Optimisation Manager Ritesh Mishra, Blackham Resources General Manager Richard Boffey, Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Operational Improvement Lia Walker, Phu Bia Mining, PanAust Mobile Maintenance Manager Mark McCartney and Newcrest Mining General Manager Project Delivery Francis Brown.

Available places for Meet the Miners are strictly limited, with registration information available from www.austmineconference.com.au/meet-the-miners/.

For the industry’s brightest minds, the Mining’s Big Idea competition is the perfect opportunity to submit a new and unique concept to an engaged audience on a global stage.

Ideal for the younger generations in the industry who may not necessarily hold a position with the capacity to be heard,  the competition encourages the next wave of ‘thinkers’ with the potential to change and grow the industry to share their idea for presentation to the Austmine audience in 120 seconds or less.

Submissions can be made via the conference website, with shortlisted entries receiving a free pass to the event, as well as the opportunity to pitch the idea live on stage.

Austmine 2019 is also the perfect opportunity to link with colleagues, with highlights including networking drinks, as well as the Austmine Industry Leaders’ Dinner and Awards, recognising and celebrating the most innovative and successful METS and miners of the year. Guests will hear from the inspirational Curtis McGrath, para-canoeist, as he shares his story of triumph over tragedy.

Outside of the interactive elements of Austmine 2019, the event seeks to pave the way for the future of the industry.

Guest speakers from around the world will discuss topics of innovation and transformation, ranging from data driving efficiency in the value chain, to leveraging the latest production techniques, connectivity in mining, the changing human element in the industry, as well as new technology and methodologies driving change.
