Drawing on more than 60 years of experience in the development and construction of hydraulic excavators, Liebherr has launched B-versions of its R 9100 and R 9150 hydraulic excavators, with the upgrades enabling enhanced performance and reliability while lowering cost per tonne.

Ideal for both the mining and construction industries, the R 9100 B and R 9150 B are equipped with the most recent generation of Liebherr D 9812 diesel engines, developed to achieve an increased lifetime and new features that facilitate and improve the engine’s maintenance.

The B-versions come with the Liebherr-patented EVO Bucket Solution design, to maximise the loading capacity and ensure optimal penetration efficiency.

Safe service access and superior operator comfort have been built into the new designs with upgrades to the upper structure of the excavator including the ladder, catwalks and an operator’s cabin.

The excavators are serially equipped with GSM data transmission functionalities to collect operating parameters, error codes and machine faults.

The data is accessible through the Liebherr-Mining Data platform (LMD) on which the user can generate customised reports to track and analyse machine data.

Liebherr‘s vertical integration practice and genuine components ensure the best interaction within the machine to encourage optimal performance. Several components, like the swing pump, were also upgraded in the B-version development to provide optimal reliability, superior productivity and a longer service life.

Liebherr Australia’s customer support team has upskilled its workforce to ensure it is well-equipped to provide original equipment manufacturer standard service for these new machines. This includes training for the Liebherr diesel engines.

The two excavator models have successfully worked Australia- wide in coal, iron ore and gold, as well as in construction, including an R 9150 with a shear attachment in a demolition application.

Recently, Liebherr has experienced increased growth in the Western Australian Goldfields, particularly with its R 9200 excavators.

Confident the upgraded R 9100 B and R 9150 B will experience similar success, the company expects to see continued growth in the mineral-rich region.
